Our name is changing, but our mission of enriching lives remains the same.
Over the next few months, Josina Lott Residential & Community Services will be transitioning to a new name: Manahan. After 40 years serving adults with developmental disabilities, Josina Lott is changing its name to allow it to develop a unique identity that reflects its distinct mission and level of service. Everyone—from the board to the caregivers—will remain in their current job and continue to provide adults with developmental disabilities a place where they can thrive. |
The 40th anniversary was an opportunity to reflect on the past and look to the future… which was captured in their “What’s In a Name” video. The needs of adults with developmental disabilities are ever-changing. These needs include an increased focus on day programs and community services.
The new name for Josina Lott represents the organization’s commitment to placing the changing needs of the people it serves, while at the same time differentiating itself from an organization with a similar name serving the same population.
The primary change people will notice is the name change to Manahan, which will introduce new colors and a dynamic new logo and identity. In particular, the logo reflects that the future of Manahan lies in residential and community services, as well as illustrating the desire for every individual to be his or her best.
Josina Lott would not be the place that it is today without Otto and Zepha Manahan. The Manahan’s philanthropic support, which continues through their foundation, has greatly improved the quality of life for the people served at Josina Lott. It is entirely fitting that we remember them in this way.
The foundation that supports Manahan will continue to be known as the Josina Lott Foundation. The staff and board will also examine other ways to remember her legacy to people with developmental disabilities.
